along with many others, are outraged by the delayed response to gender-based violence, also known as Femicide, in South Africa. The Department of Women, Youth and Persons With Disabilities, shared a statement on Friday, 12 June 2020 which stated their condemnation of the injustices towards women, but that was not enough for Lerato.
The media personality unleashed her wrath on Twitter in a series of tweets which claimed that the government was not doing anything to help women. She specifically targeted Minister of the Police, Bheki Cele, claiming that he has showed more concern regarding alcohol, rather than the multitude of deaths that have occurred.
She stated, “I am absolutely horrified and very pissed off at the tone deaf messages that are being posted by the @DWYPD_ZA !!!! What is this?! Ladies I told y’all re di joke! This is how our butchering is addressed?! Like some random WhatsApp chat?! Bathong!! WE R ON OUR OWN!!!!!”.
