New presenter at Jozi FM, Penny Ntuli had an accident on the N3 highway yesterday. The radio presenter, who is originally from KwaZulu Natal, has only been in Johannesburg for over a month.
Ntuli, who joined theSoweto-based radio station in April, said she brought her ride to Joburg since she’s getting used to “The Place of Gold”. The accident happened when a truck lost a load of timber which hit her car and damaged the front bumper. She wrote on her Facebook page: “Today I decided ukunyusa imoto yam ize ngala eGoli ngoba sengqala ukuyijwayela lendawo, next thing out of nowhere kuFreeway kuwa ugodo kwiTruck lazotheleka straight kumina. (Today I decided to bring my car to Johannesburg as I am getting used to the place and the next thing on the highway, timber from a truck landed straight ont to my car).” The actress and radio personality, with over 1.7 million followers added that she survived, with her passengers, by avoiding hitting the brakes, but swerved to the side of the road, and drove straight into the grass to avoid a serious accident from on-coming cars. “Whatever I did bizolimala imoto either way(It doesn’t matter what I did, the car was going to suffer damages anyway). But hey no one got hurt… So long as umuntu esaphila, sengibonga lokho (As long as I am alive- I’m just grateful for that),” she wrote.
ACCUSED OF BEING A FAVOURITE
Penny made headlines in March when she revealed that she asked her former bosses at Gagasi FM not to renew her contract after they offered her R2 800 salary, the same amount she said she had been earning for two years at the Durban-based radio station. She was then offered a job at Jozi FM and flown to Johannesburg by her new employer. A few days after starting her new job where she is presenting the mid-morning show, from 9am to 12pm, some of her colleagues, who wanted to remain anonymous, accused the station manager of favouring her but the station denied the allegations.
