RIP: Late rapper Riky Rick remembered two years after his death

A number of fans have come in numbers on social media to pay tribute to the late rapper Riky Rick who died two years ago on 23 February after committing suicide.

Riky Rick—real name Rikhado Makhado’s memory still lives on two years after he died. The Ungaz’ncishi hitmaker took his own life at his estate home in the north of Johannesburg. He is said to have suffered from severe depression before his untimely death.

The iconic rapper was was found hanging from a rope and still alive when his managers found him. The 34-year-old at the time was rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly died on the way, BBC reported.

Last year, the Cotton Festival celebrated Riky Rick’s life a year after his death. The festival was founded by the rapper and it aims to “celebrate South African talent by bringing together a high-octane lineup of local artists, musicians, rappers, and DJs,” Your Pocket reported.

This year, a number of fans gathered on X (the social media platform previously known as Twitter) to pay tribute to the late rapper. Fans took to the comment section and left a pile of lovely messages as they continued to mourn the slain rapper together.

“This man’s passing was a shock to the whole landscape of the culture 😔,” @Kagisho1Mk replied.
