32-year-old Tembinkosi Litha Ngcukana grew up in Cape Town, but he is originally from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
He first started acting in primary school and fully immersed himself in the craft by being a part of school plays and church theaters.
While his late mother didn’t quite understand his love for acting, Tembinkosi forged ahead by getting acting coaches and taking online acting courses.A couple of years ago, he stumbled upon a poster for a movie that was being shot. He auditioned, but sadly, the movie didn’t go anywhere. That, however, was a great learning curve. The experience fueled and increased his love for acting.Tembinkosi has also played roles in everything from Shakespeare to Daisy Fisher’s Cinderella.
He recently got his biggest break, as he scored the role of Thulani Mxenge in the new telenovela, Gqeberha: The Empire.
Tembinkosi plays Thulani Mxenge, who isn’t thrilled by the fact that he may need to take over his family’s riches.
Although his mom wanted him to be a lawyer or a doctor, Tembinkosi opted for acting because it was something he had always loved.
He has other talents besides acting. He is also a TV personality of note, having presented the local food show Taste SA.
Tembinkosi was also a constant feature in Thulisa Kanzi’s YFM drive-time show, doing parody voiceovers where he mimicked various artists from across the globe.
