“Little did you know the difference you would make” – Vuyo Mbuli’s wife Savita praises his legacy.
Savita, Vuyo Mbuli’s wife, has expressed how proud she is of the legacy her husband, Vuyo Mbuli, left behind.
Vuyo Mbuli presented SABC 2’s Morning Live for 13 years.
Vuyo passed away 10 years ago at the age of 46 after passing out while watching a rugby match at Bloemfontein’s Free State Stadium.“You know my husband did this”
On Friday, Savita posted a picture of herself visiting his grave on her timeline and talked about how Vuyo helped those in need.
She shared Vuyo’s contribution to helping a community of Port Alfred that lived on the riverbanks in unsafe informal structures.
“You are a Legend! Truly so! Little did you know the difference you would make to the lives of so many people. In the beautiful town of Port Alfred there was an ugly part not shown in pictures. The other side. Where communities lived on the riverbanks in unsafe informal structures that would be swept away if the tide became too high or during rainy season. People would come back from work/school homeless.
“This bothered my husband and gave birth to the first Private Public Partnership. He called local, provincial, national governments and a bank put them on TV. Fast Forward. Today there’s a thriving community.. in a relatively big township.. like bigger than Pimville’s Zone 4 & 5 combined😊 living in decent homes. All because my husband was.”
“What moves me even more is the stories people who live there tell. Some are so expressive when they see me in town. I think of the generations that will benefit. I flex on my kids when we pass there and be on some “You know my husband did this”. On days when I’m nice to them I’ll be on: You know your Dad did this”. It’s always a warm conversation starter❤️ A story they’ll share with their children and their children’s children.”
