‘The reports are false’: ‘Imbewu: The Seed’ denies firing Phindile Gwala

E.tv’s soapie, Imbewu: The Seed, denies reports that actress, Phindile Gwala, who plays the role of Fikile Bhengu was fired.

The soapie told Daily Sun that the media reports are false and that Gwala left the show to pursue other interests.

The actress made headlines last week when it was reported that she was fired for being incompetent. Imbewu’s publicist, Eugene Cele told the People’s Paper:

“The reports are false. She left to pursue other career interests.”

“There is no bad blood between us, just grown, and we wish her well with her future endeavours,” said Eugene.

Cele did not confirm how or when the actress will exit the popular soapie at this stage.Sources close to former Isibaya actor, Muzi Mthabela, who plays the role of Menzi on Imbewu: The Seed have confirmed the actor has also left the e.tv soapie.

According to City Press, Mathabela exited Imbewu as he was becoming increasingly frustrated with his Casanova role.

The publication reported the role did not sit well with his personal life, as he is a devoted Christian church.

The actor also auditioned for a role on SABC1’s soapie, Generations: The Legacy but his move to the show did not work out as another actor got the part.

He stated that he is not leaving Imbewu: The Seed on a sour note and that he is grateful for the opportunity.

I don’t trust this Menzi guy, he is too good to be true Mathabela may have auditioned for the new role that actor, Yonda Thomas bagged on Generations: The Legacy last month, although he did not confirm which role he was auditioning for.

Entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela, confirmed last month (18 October) that former Isidingo star, Yonda Thomas, who played the role of Detective Majola has joined the SABC 1 soapie.
