Orlando Pirates booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Carling Knockout Cup after defeating Cape Town Spurs 2-0 on Friday night.

Despite no goals being scored in the opening half, there was plenty of action at either end.

 

 
The deadlock was eventually broken on the hour mark thanks to a Tapelo Xoki penalty kick after Zama Dlamini brought Evidence Makgopa down in the box.

Four minutes later, a lovely interchange between Kermit Erasmus and Evidence Makgopa was finished off by ‘Romeo’.

There were no further goals at the Orlando Stadium, sending Jose Riveiro’s side through to the last eight of the competition.Thembinkosi Lorch was voted as the Man Of The Match in Friday night’s clash between Orlando Pirates and Cape Town Spurs.

Lorch made his first appearance of the season for the club and the fans believe he was the standout performer at the Orlando Stadium. Lorch walks away with R100 000 for his efforts.
