THABO BESTER AND DR NANDIPHA MAGUDUMANA’S NEXT COURT APPEARANCE
The controversial couple will be sharing the dock for the first time today – this follows Dr Nandipha Magudumama’s claims that Thabo Bester took her to Tanzania against her will, EWN reported. In May 2022, Bester succeeded in staging his death by starting a fire in his prison cell and dumping the lifeless body of Katlego Bereng in the brazen escape from the maximum security prison, Mangaung Correctional Centre. The lovebirds were napped in Tanzania in April with several passports with different names in their possession.

They were transported back to South Africa where they are currently held at different facilities. Magudumana is currently held at Bizzah Makhate Correctional Centre in Kroonstad where she awaits her next court appearance. Meanwhile, Bester is watched over at the C-Max section of Pretoria’s Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre and will reunite with the celebrity doctor today.
Combined, the duo currently face charges of defeating the ends of justice, violating a corpse, aiding, fraud, corruption, abetting an inmate to escape from lawful custody, concealing an escaped offender, and arson. This comes after Bester staged his elaborate escape from the Mangaung Correctional Facility, where he was serving a life sentence. At Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s last court appearance, she was denied bail by Magistrate Estelle de Lange. In her ruling, she said Magudumana was a “definite flight risk”.
“I find that she did not satisfy the court that it is in the interest of justice for her to be released on bail. [And so], the application to be released on bail is refused,” de Lange said.
Meanwhile, Thabo Bester’s lawyer Kabelo Matee argued that his client is allegedly inhumanly treated behind bars and claimed he is cuffed at least for 23 hours in his cell in a day, SABC reported.
