Friends and family of Zoleka Mandela bid her farewell after losing her battle with cancer.The late Zoleka Mandela who is the granddaughter of struggle stalwarts Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela will be laid to rest on Friday and her funeral service will be held at the Bryanston Methodist Church.
On Thursday, mourners gathered at the Mandela family home in Orlando West to celebrate the life of author and activist Zoleka Mandela.
The 43-year-old lost her battle to cancer on Monday evening surrounded by family and friends.
During her memorial Service held at the Mandela family home in Orlando West on Thursday ,the family described Zoleka as a fighter, saying her legacy will always live on in their hearts as a symbol of strength, hope and the power of unwavering determination.
Zodwa Zwane, former Winnie Madikizela Mandela ‘s personal assistant said Zoleka will be dearly missed and she was always full of life.
“She was in pain and was able to explain what’s happening with her sickness, sometimes you have that stigma which I think it made her very strong and she prepared everybody that she was leaving, though it is really sad that now she is gone,” said Zwane.
