MRS UNIVERSE South Africa semi-finalist, Kelebogile Tshesebe, is excited about the progress she has made in life.
The 35-year-old author, podcast host and entrepreneur, who is originally from Bloemfomtein in Free State, said she started to enter beauty pageants in church and at school at the age of eight.
“Being in a pageant is not easy as you have to put in a lot of work, raise money for charities, get votes and sponsorships and always look good. You also have to be a gender-based violence activist,” she said.
Kelebogile, who is based in Centurion, Tshwane, said pageants are not about beauty, but are about change, the impact you have in the community as well as have confidence and dedication.
She described herself as a passionate and hard-working woman who believes in herself and in her abilities.
“I’m not afraid to take on challenges. I’m a go-getter and believe in making a positive impact in people’s lives,” she said.
The mother of two said when balancing modelling and writing a book, writing a book comes with inspiration, while pageants work according to a calendar”I love both of my gifts because they take out different sides of me. As a writer, I’m in touch with my creative side and I understand myself better from different angles,” said Kelebogile.
In 2021, she published the book, Had I Known, which tackles issues of gender-based violence.
