Afrikaans singer Angie Oeh—real name Angelique Greeff passed away just days after she revealed that she was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. She had pleaded with her fans to help her raise R200 000 towards her surgery and treatment and they did. However, following her death, fans and supporters were invited to help raise more profits towards her medical debt.
According to her social media managers, Angie Oeh had an emergency operation on Tuesday 15 August. The singer’s fans and supporters managed to raise R278 478 towards her cancer treatment and surgery in less than a week, The Citizen reported. A new goal set by the Back A Buddy campaign was to raise R300 000 for the singer in which it fell short by just R21 500.
Since Oeh’s death, a fundraising party will be held on 30 August at Railways Café in Pretoria to raise profits towards the late singer’s medical debt.
“All profits from the show will go to cover Angie’s medical costs. Unfortunately, she had no medical cover and was cared for in private practice until the end,” her social media managers explained.
