ACTRESS XOLILE TSHABALALA COMPLAINS ABOUT HIGH FOOD PRICES
South Africa’s economic decline continues even though the country narrowly avoided a recession in the first quarter, Reuters reported. The country’s tough economic conditions continue to persist and even South African celebrities are feeling the heat.
Blood & Water actress Xolile Tshabalala could no longer keep mum about the ridiculously high food prices in Mzansi as she went on a public rant opening up about her shock when she went to a store and noticed that an ordinary cheap Chomp chocolate now cost a whopping R7.
According to Business Tech, a pre-closed market update by Finance group Nedbank which was carried out at the end of June indicated that things were not looking to becoming any better in the following months to come. The group had reportedly revised its GDP growth outlook for Mzansi and is now expecting only 0.1 per cent growth as opposed to the previously expected 0.2 per cent.
Tshabalala’s fans and social media followers have since voiced their valid concerns about the shocking grocery prices in the actresses’ comment section.“2lt Milk is R40 😢 this was 24.99 not so long ago,” @thabilekabanyane replied.
“I always walk out of grocery stores feeling depressed 😔 … food is expensive for those that are working, now imagine how tough it is for the unemployed 💔#it‘s really sad,” @luyanda93nkosi said.
“Hmm ya things are expensive,🙌2litre coke is now R27,00 ended settling for Coke Zero,” @zintomvi82 wrote.
“Oil, eggs, and milk zii [are] luxuries these days,” @nomimnotoza said.
“kubi🗣 kubi🗣 kubi🗣 bi bi bi bi sisi🗣,” @laurasemenya reacted.
