Media personality Khanyi Mbau was announced as the host for the 2nd edition of the Basadi in Music Awards on the 12 August. However, to our surprise the reality TV star was replaced on the day of the event by radio personality and musician Unathi Nkayi.
On Saturday, 12 August the Basadi in Music Awards took to their Instagram to announce that Unathi Nkayi will be hosting the prestigious awards ceremony.
“The organisers of Basadi in Music Awards have announced musician, media personality and author Unathi Nkayi as the host of this years awards. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place today, 12 August 2023 at 6pm at the Joburg Theatre”, they shared in a statement to their Instagram story.
The awards gave no specific reason as to why Khanyi was no longer hosting the ceremony.
They shared: It was initially announced that the event would be hosted by actress and musician Khany Mbau who, due to unforseen circumstances would no longer be at helm”.
