COURT HEARS OF THABO BESTER’S MISSING VALUABLES
For the first time, all suspects were physically present since their arrest. However, during the court sitting, Thabo Bester’s legal representative, Kabelo Matee, revealed that his client was being mistreated.

Matee also said his client was being handcuffed for 23 hours daily despite being locked up in the cell. He also revealed that Thabo Bester’s valuables worth millions went missing after his arrest in Tanzania. Bester’s legal team revealed that charges were filed at Lanseria International Airport.

The valuables were reportedly valued at around R11 million and included:
Six watches worth around R7.9 million. The watches include two Rolex watches, two AMS watches, and two FM watches.
Gadgets and accessories worth more than R650 000
Other disclosed valuables of around R2 million
Some gadgets and accessories included Macbook computers and iPhones. Huge sums of foreign currency were also reported missing. US$36 000 also went missing. Other amounts include:
Zambian currency – ZK1.4 million
Pounds – £500 000
Swisss Francs – CHF150 000
Tanzanian currency – TSh 7.2 million
The matter has been postponed until 11 October 2023 for further investigation.

SEIZED ASSETS CLAIMS
This is not the first Bester has cried foul about his assets. It was once reported that Thabo Bester told his lawyers that the Asset Forfeiture Unit had seized his assets worth more than R3 billion while in prison.
However, despite these allegations, the AFU rubbished his claims. The assets which Bester claimed to have lost to the AFU included:
Bentley Bentayga W12 – R7 million
Bentley Continental GT V8 – R9 million
Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 – R9.5 million
