Popular actress Heléne Lombard played the role of Sandra Stutterheim in the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan from 2001 to 2006. Lombard’s character was the love child of Madel Terblanche’s husband who had an affair with Sandra’s mother.
Sandra’s anger towards the Terblanche’s and thirst for revenge came from her parents’ affair. In the soapie, she and Madel didn’t get along as Madel never accepted her even though she was her husband’s child.
Lombard revealed to The Citizen in 2021 that she left acting to focus on her family as her children needed her more.
“It was difficult in the beginning, because I missed [acting] and you lose a bit of your identity when you leave your career to be a stay-at-home mom. But then I got so busy that I completely forgot about it.”
She also revealed that her children were really small, they were starting to go to school, and she decided she wants to be there for them.
