One Magic soapie The River walked away as the biggest winner of the night at the annual Royalty Soapie Awards on Saturday night.
The popular soapie, which has announced that it will wrap up production for good at the end of the current season, took home five awards, including outstanding onscreen couple for seasoned actors Sindi Dlathu and Hlomla Dandala. t also scooped the outstanding directing team award.

The event was held at The Galleria in Kramerville, Johannesburg. Other winners on the night included Mzansi Magic soapie Gomora and e.tv soapie House of Zwide, which walked away with four awards each.

Gomora actress Katlego Danke was given the outstanding lead actress award, while former Generations castmate Vusi Kunene walked away with the outstanding lead actor award for his role in House of Zwide.
Legendary actress Connie Chiume was honoured with a lifetime achievement award, while executive producer Mfundi Vundla won the trailblazer of the year award.

This was the sixth edition of the awards show. Tourism SA who participated by adding the Pan-African award category to the mix.
