“27 years old first time graduate
2 times university dropout
9 years later…I finally made it

No one ever told me I couldn’t make it – yet I dropped out
I had a full funding Thuthuka bursary – yet I dropped out
I had the best support system – yet I dropped out
I was a full-time Bcompt student at University of Limpopo and on the first day of my final year exams,I simply woke up and took a taxi to Joburg,I WAS DONE.I was convinced that I nolonger wanted to be a Charted Accountant, yet I had no idea what I wanted to be.I joined the working environment, tried out different things just to see what I was passionate about.🌻
I did long distance correspondence with UNISA in 2015 with the intention of finishing my qualifications but my life soon crumbled down as my marriage failed and I fell into depression.Friends offered to tutor me and family gave me motivational speeches, but I was DONE once again.I let them tutor,I let them preach, woke up on the day of the exam, sat outside the venue and simply never went in.🌻
I’m an intelligent being and never lacked the intelligence to complete the task at hand,I just lacked the will. When I went back in 2017, I didn’t tell anyone.I didn’t want the pressure to owe anyone a complete qualification.I use to spend endless nights at the office until morning,so much that there were rumours going around that I was homeless mother. This time around,I was unbothered, because my will was stronger than anything going on around me.So much money wasted, thrice as hard being a mom, student, employee yet I wouldn’t have it any other way.🌻
TODAY,HERE WE ARE.
I took a break to find me,for me,my way but most of all I WENT BACK.Now it is done, onto the next one…This one goes out Sima,Mama,Tivi,Vusi and my late dad.
For anyone who held meetings in my name,I forgive you.You didn’t know better.May the Grace of God that located me,locate you too.My heart holds no grudges, but only songs of praises.
I recently did a video detailing this journey. I hope you’ll find it enlightening
