Neo graduated from Mafikeng’s Kebalepile High School in 1983 with a high school diploma. He pursued and received a diploma from The School of Broadcasting, where he graduated in 1991, after deciding on a career path. Neo was trained as a film director by the SABC in cooperation with Bateleur between 1994 and 1995. His mentor at the time, the late Mr. John Rogers, helped him improve his résumé in the performing arts sector.

Neo completed a screenplay analysis course at Pretoria Technikon and a Hollywood Film Institute course offered by Dov Simens to strengthen his preparation for the entertainment industry.

Following the end of his education, he stormed the entertainment world, earning jobs in a variety of projects.

Through his role in Kelebone in 1998, Neo became a household name. He went on to feature in other TV shows, including Class of ’92, Generations, On the Right Track, Grondbaronne, Maitemogelo, and many others, however most of his appearances were cameos.

Neo Matsunyane met and began dating Connie Ferguson, whose last name was Masilo at the time, in the early 1990s. We are unable to determine the specific dates and circumstances of their meeting, but it is possible that it occurred throughout the course of their acting careers.

The two artists married in 1993, and everything seemed to be fine for a time until, for no apparent reason, they decided to call it quits. Connie and Neo were married for almost five years until divorcing in 1998.
