‘1 million in one day’: South African amapiano artist Tyla dethroned Master KG’s ‘Jerusalema’ record with her hit single ‘Water’.

The Citizen reports that Tyla’s single Water is the highest charting song by a South African artist since Master KG’s Jerusalema.

 

 

 

 
The global hit song Water broke into Spotify’s top 40 global playlist and was streamed over 40 million times.

The publication adds that the 21-year-old’s song Water entered the Apple Music US chart at number 82, currently sits at number 65, above the likes of SZA and Lil Baby.

The musician Tyla Laura Seethal signed a recording contract with Epic Records through a joint venture with Fax Records in the United States, after her big break.

She made headlines in March when she attended the Dolce and Gabanna’s runway show at the Milan Fashion Week where she rubbed shoulders with Kim Kardashian.

The United States-based musician also performed alongside Davido and Tiwa Savage in Kigali, Rwanda at the Africa Closing Concert presented by Spotify in August.Limpopo-born musician Master KG took to X to congratulate Tyla following reports that her hit song Water dethroned Jerusalema.
