The notorious Thabo Bester included Advocate Dali Mpofu and Advocate Zandile Mshololo in his legal team on Wednesday, 12 October, and South Africans on social media are convinced that the convicted killer and Facebook rapist must be swimming in money or funded by top officials to afford the powerhouse of advocates.

Thabo Bester staged his death and made his brazen escape from the Mangaung Correctional Facility in May 2022. He was arrested in Tanzania earlier this year and faces several charges including defeating the ends of justice, fraud, corruption, violating a corpse, aiding, arson, and more.

During court proceedings on Wednesday, Bester’s State lawyer told the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court that he would also be assisted by advocate Zandile Mshololo, EWN reported. The recently captured fugitive also rose and told the court that he would also be using the services of advocate Dali Mpofu.

Mshololo is currently representing accused number five in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial. Meanwhile, Mpofu is best known for his political contributions. South Africans have since voiced their concerns and question where Bester could be getting such money to hire advocates in calibres as Mshololo and Mpofu. After all, lawyers don’t come cheap.

Framed by Thabo Bester? Former accused speaks out

During an exclusive interview with the SABC, as seen in a video posted on X (the former social media platform formally known as Twitter) on Thursday, 12 October, Nastassja Jansen who is one of the former accused G4S employees roped in the Thabo Bester saga, said she is convinced that she was “framed” and used as a “scapegoat” in the elaborate prison escape plan.At the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Wednesday, Magistrate Estelle de Lange dropped charges for three of the accused in the Thabo Bester case. Nastassja Jansen, Thabang Matthews Mier, and Moeketsi April Ramolula’s cases were withdrawn, SowetanLive reported.

 

 

The trio faced several charges including defeating the ends of justice, fraud, corruption, abetting an inmate to escape from lawful custody, concealing an escaped offender, violating a corpse, aiding, and arson.

“All the charges are then withdrawn against the three accused. You may stand down,” de Lange was quoted as saying.One of the former accused, Jansen has since shared her take in what she believes was her part in the disgraceful Thabo Bester and Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s controversy.

“I believe I was used as a scapegoat. I believe I was somehow framed [and] I don’t know how. I cannot explain that. And I also believe that the police did not do a proper investigation, because if they did, I was not going to sit in prison for 29 days,” Jansen said.MORE ABOUT THE COURT PROCEEDINGS
Dr Nandipha Magudumana and Thabo Bester were expected to share the dock for the first time since their arrest in Tanzania earlier this year. However, moments before the disgraced doctor made her court appearance, she was reported to have fainted. According to her lawyer, Machini Motloung, he alleged that Magudumana is one of a few inmates from Bizzah Makhate Correctional Centre in Kroonstad who allegedly got food poisoning.

Actress Baby Cele who currently plays the role of Gabisile in Uzalo has reportedly exited the SABC1 sopie for Umkhokha: The Curse.isiZulu publication Isolezwe reports that Uzalo actress Baby Cele might replace fan-favourite actress Deli Malinga as Mamzobe in Umkhokha: The Curse.


 

 

 

A source revealed to the publication that Baby Cele decided to leave Uzalo and join Umkhokha. The source adds that Malinga was reportedly not happy with the treatment and resigned from the Mzansi Magic faith-based telenovela a few days ago.

Rumours of award-winning actress Deli Malinga leaving the show began a few days ago when isiZulu publication iLanga News reported on Thursday, 28 September that the actress might be leaving the show.

The SAFTA winning actress Deli Malinga recently revealed to Sunday World that there are other roles in the pipeline which she couldn’t mention yet.

“I am shooting a few scenes in a fun drama, but they are nothing like MaMzobe,” she tells the publication.@mjbnkosi: “She’s a good actress but not to replace Deli.”
