Ever since coming out and introducing her lover to the world, Letoya Makhene left Mzansi speechless when it was discovered that she had found love in the arms of another woman, Lebohang Keswa. As expected her happiness is tainted by a lot of homophobic slurs and she has had enough.

She has been fighting off the haters ever since news broke 5 months ago and she still continues to do so. She recently told homophobic men where to get off after filling her DM’s with questions as to why did she choose to be with another woman.

Professing her love publicly for the businesswoman, she made it clear to the men in her comments section and DM’s that she chose Lebohang and has no regrets whatsoever.

Not wanting to address her relationship status anymore she wrote, “Let’s just get this out of the way once and for all please, and hopefully I won’t be asked this question again. To all the men who keep asking me why her? What do I see in her? Nywe nywe nywe … here’s my answer … she’s great in bed.”

It’s safe to say the internet went wild after her response as it was unexpected, but the replies were mixed with comments applauding her and others were negative as some people attacked her chosen spiritual journey.
The Generations: The legacy actress is fearless and unbothered about the hatred that is surrounding her relationship because her father and children have welcomed Lebohang Keswa wholeheartedly.

“My biggest fear was telling my dad and my children that mommy is in love with a woman. I was afraid of hurting them. Thank you daddy for the blessing you gave us. Yours and God’s is the only blessing that matters,” she wrote in an instagram post.

She also talked about how getting into a relationship with Lebo had not been her plan but it was either she accepts that love or lose herself trying to make it work with men.

“I stood before my God and asked Him if this was a joke. I also reminded Him that I remember being very specific in my requests. He gave me 2 choices. One was to receive His gift of love as is, the other was to walk away and lose myself bit by bit to men who will never really understand or honour me because of the power that I possess through the gifts that He has given me.”

South African musician, AKA, is the latest star to be dragged into the Economic Freedom Fighter’s protest action, which saw them lambasting Clicks for a recent advert. The rapper, who has nothing to do with the protest, was called out for not speaking out about the issue of systemic racism in the country, seeing as though he is vocal about other issues which are said to be close to his heart.

The Twitter thread that stood out to the rapper was when trolls were accusing him of disregarding black South Africans, despite identifying as one previously. He was also accused of playing up the ‘coloured-race-card’ recently, causing for followers to believe that he has theoretically altered his ethnicity. AKA tweeted, “Some days like today I’m Black enough to speak out about issues. Other days I’m a Coloured this and a Coloured that. Weird f*ckin’ country we living in.”

Tired of engaging in back and forth responses with trolls, AKA sat back and witnessed one fan in particular publicly defend him. The fans explained that it was not his duty to take on societal issues all the time, and he should rather be commended for the times he has spoken out about injustices. She stated, “How many times has AKA spoken out and supported black people? How many times has AKA been the only one fighting for us? Only to be told he isn’t black enough every time he isn’t doing things your way? Again I ask, IS HE THE ONLY CELEBRITY IN SA?!”.

AKA acknowledged his fan for having his back amongst the haters, and after a long thread of defensive tweets, he asked her to stop. He concluded with, “It’s okay. I respect and appreciate you going to bat for me but you need to understand that 99% of the time they won’t be able to go back and forth with me so you make them tingle when you take up the fight and entertain them. Still, thanks for having my back Mega.”

Orlando Pirates Football Club has released a statement following the arrest of it’s midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch yesterday, for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

The footballer’s girlfriend Nokhupiwa Mathithibala opened a case of assault against the soccer star at Midrand Police Station following the incident which allegedly occurred at Lorch’s residence in Midrand.

Confirming to Sunday World in a statement, South African Police Service’s Kay Makhubela said the star was arrested.

“Police in the early hours of Monday morning, 07 September 2020 arrested a 27-year old man for allegedly assaulting a woman at his place of residence in Midrand. It is reported that the suspect physically assaulted the complainant after a verbal exchange between the two, and the victim was allegedly rescued by the suspect’s friend who was present at the time of the incident that is related to domestic,” read the police’s statement.

Lorch appeared in the Midrand Magistrates Court yesterday on a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. The star was released on R2000 bail and is set to be back in court on 18 October 2020.

His club Orlando Pirate said, they cannot comment further as the matter is being handled by the police. The club says they condemn violence against women and children.

“This matter is currently in the hands of the authorities. As a club we cannot comment further except to say that we condemn all forms of violence, especially violence against women and children. We support the rights of each and every individual but we strongly condemn violence.”

“This country has witnessed some of the most appalling cases of GBV and we do not take this matter lightly, however we need to respect the process undertaken by the authorities and allow the law to take its course.”The incident has sparked outraged on social media with many condemning it and slamming the footballer. This also follows the brutal murder of actress Thandeka Mdeliswa.

The TV star who portrayed the role of Khanya on iKani, succumbed to gunshot wounds after she was shot in an argument between her brother and two unidentified men.

The incident has been described as another spate of Gender Based Violence. The family released a statement and expressed how heart-broken their are following this appalling incident “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of our dearest daughter.The brutality that was inflicted on our daughter hurts us deeply.This is another incident of violence against women (gender-based violence) that our country has to fight against. We believe that justice will be done.”
