‘Teach them!’: ‘Sister Bethina’ hitmaker celebrates Siya’s hit performance

South Africans are tickled pink by a video of Springbok captain Siya Kolisi teaching his new teammates at Racing 92 the words of the country’s unofficial national anthem – Sister Bethina!

The star relocated to France last month after playing on home ground for several years.


 

 

But it seems Siya brought a piece of home to his new club.In a clip posted on his Instagram, Siya and his Racing 92 teammates are seen socialising after a training session.

But fans were pleasantly surprised when the French team – led by the Springbok captain – started singing SA’s most famous song, Sister Bethina.

In the clip, French player Junior Tabuavou belts out: “Hibari” while a few others join in.

“Next, they will be singing amagwijo”, one amused fan posted in the comments section. “The South African energy is contagious”, added another.

South African-born actor Zolisa Xaluva has reportedly dismissed claims that he was fired from e.tv’s Smoke & Mirrors, speaking The Citizen on Thursday, 30 November, he shed light on the situation.

The seasoned actor topped the top of the social media trends list late this week when he was rumoured to have allegedly gotten fired from e.tv’s telenovela, Smoke & Mirrors. According to the publication, Zolisa Xaluva (42) has only been part of the local production for only just a season since it made its debut earlier this year following the end of Imbewu: The Seed.

Speaking with the publication, Xaluva who portrays the ruthless businessman, Caesar Ngonyama on Smoke & Mirrors reportedly shared that he wasn’t fired from the show, but his contract merely came to an end.

 

 

“My season one contract ended; as it stands I have no contractual obligations with them… Dismissed and fired are not the correct words to describe the situation. As soon as there is any finality I’ll be glad to pick up the conversation again,” Xaluva was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Final Chapter Productions on the other hand, the company behind the production of Smoke & Mirrors confirmed that the they have “amicably” parted ways with Zolani Xaluva, Sunday World reported.

“At the onset of the new season of Smoke & Mirrors, the producers of Final Chapter Productions came to a resolution to amicably part ways with Zolisa Xaluva. Zolisa has been an asset to the show in his role as Caesar Ngonyama, and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavours,” production was quoted as saying.

According to the statistics recorded by the Department of Science and Innovation, 7.8 million South Africans out of the 59 million citizens were said to be living with HIV/AIDS by the end of 2022. And, although the number may seem high, it is a huge decrease from their previous record. It was reported that the number had significantly decreased from 14 per cent to 12.7 per cent from 2017 to 2022.

She relayed this sentiment clearly: “One thing we need to remember there are people who crawled so that some of us can walk tall in this industry. This show is to highlight and showcase that.

“These people gave up their lives, their livelihoods, some even grew up in this industry just to serve the masses with their creative talent. These are the people that need to be celebrated.”

Talented Uzalo actor Nkanyiso Makhanya, who plays the role of Njeza has scored the role of a soldier, Menga in Mzansi Magic’s faith-based telenovela, Umkhokha: The Curse.Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela has announced that popular Uzalo actor Nkanyiso Makhanya has secured a role in Umkhokha: The Curse as Menga.

Viewers of the Mzansi Magic telenovela predict Makhanya will portray Ndoda’s love interest on the show as they’re friendship is “suspicious”.


 

Makhanya who currently plays the role of a criminal, Njeza in Uzalo made his debut in UmkhokhaL The Curse on Thursday, 30 November.
